Fall trends 2013 through my point of view

I’m in a good mood since I just got back from a shopping spree with my best friend, which always makes a girl happy. It’s not diamonds that are a girl’s best friend, it’s a sign with ‘sale’ and someone who’s willing to carry all of your shopping bags.

So while I was at H&M, I found their magazine, the Autumn 2013 edition. When I was leafing through the pages, I read a huge bunch of trends for this fall. I agreed with some, but disagreed with others. So I decided to make my own list. These are the things, patterns, trends and looks that -according to me- will define the next couple of months.

  1. Wednesday Addams:
I’m sure most of you will remember this young lady from the Addams Family. I agree with H&M on this one, the Wednesday Addams look is spot on for this fall. Sleek, wetlook hair with either a middle or deep, sharp sideparting, dark grey or even black smokey or smudged eyes, raven-black nails and full brows.
Concerning clothes, we’re talking black tule, a Victorian twist, black lace, collars and schoolgirl dresses. Add some matte black, plum or bordeaux Doc Martens and you’re ready to haunt the runway!

  2. Army meets leather:
Think army green parkas, leather sleeves, army boots and a top bun or beanie, combined with a dark, matte lipstick and statement necklaces. This is something the H&M Trend Guide doesn’t really mention, but I noticed it in both the streets and the stores. I’m currently trying to convince my mum to buy (at least a part) of the H&M army green parka for me. One thing H&M does acknowledge as fall trend, is matte lips, which in my eyes fits perfectly with the rigorous, severe army look.Image
  3. Cosmic love:
If there’s anything they’re beating you to death with in stores right now, it’s cosmic fashion. Galaxy print leggings, galaxy bags, shirts, shoes, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, scarves, sweaters, just about everything. Just a year ago I there wasn’t a pair of galaxy leggings in town, so I had to order them from Poppy Lovers, all the way from Hong Kong, but now you can find them everywhere. I’ve always liked the cosmic theme, despite it being a little bit hipster. Throw in a couple of triangles and there’ll be a hipster around the corner with a Starbucks cup in his hand, trying to accuse you of Illuminati. Oh well, I’m still a galaxy fan.

  4. Smelling less of teen spirit and more of female empowerment:
This quote is literally from the H&M trends article, but I just had to use it. It expresses exactly my current view on fashion, and the way I (hopefully) look. Think nineties, Nirvana, Chuck Taylors and messy hair, but this time in a more mature way.
    fall4

So, these are my four fashion trends/styles for upcoming fall. What do you think? Which one is your favourite? Or will you just continue on wearing a lot of summer outfits, but with thights? (I know I will!)

2DaysLook webshop

First of all, I just got back from my Linguistical Varieties oral exam and I dqjbkgJbswkjfhoib passed it! I’m so hyperactive right now, so I decided to use all that upbeat energy and put it into some blogposts!

I was browsing Facebook when I came across to this fanpage, 2DaysLook.com. And won’t you look at that, they’ve got a little contest going on right now! They’re looking for a new favourite blogger, and to enter the contest you have to write a little article about their lovely webshop and send them the link. There’s no ‘Facebook likes’ voting system (thank heavens, I really don’t like bothering my Facebook friends with that stuff), and the winner receives €50 (I’d probably spend it in their shop right away, and I’ll show you why in  a bit) and free clothing samples to review on their blog!

Obviously I’d absolutely looooove to win this! But, as I hope you all know, I’m not the kind of blogger who will write an amazingly positive article about something she doesn’t really know or like. And I have never bought anything from 2DaysLook.com yet, but I’ve been browsing their webshop and I must admit that I’m pretty impressed!

Take a look at my favourite items (click the pictures to go to the webshop!):

Vintage Bracelet 6750, €9,95

Turquoise Top T261 Pumps 3371, €109,95

Mullet Skirt 4175, €14,95

Mustache Cup Mr. Osti 3381, €17,95

Shoppingbag Eban 3678, €34,95

Moustache Ring 3903, €7,95

Mullet Dress 3338, €59,95

Lovely, right? Wish me luck with the contest! I’m off to do the dishes now and clean my room. It’s always a gigantic mess right after exams, haha.

My latest buys

I just got back on campus, where I live (I study languages at the VUB university in Brussels) and I decided to show you guys what I bought last week. I went shopping with my best friend, and though I was a bit short on money, I still managed to finally find myself a pair of sunglasses I adore and a lovely (and huuuuge) pair of earrings. You may have noticed the earrings before, they were dangling in my ‘DIY Earring holder’ post as well.

My friend bought himself a pair of mint green shorts, a pair of beige H&M pants and a pair of sunglasses as well (so many pairs!). I kinda felt like a personal stylist, making him try on all kinds of clothing, haha!

Ok, so on to my own buys:

First of all, this pair of sunglasses, including a cute retro flower case so they won’t break in my purse, which usually happens with all of my sunglasses.

Sunglasses (Six, €8.95) and flower case (Six, €5.95)

Second, my new earrings. They’re actually quite heavy, but it was the last pair and I just couldn’t resist! I absolutely looooooove big, outstanding and extravagant. Seeing as I used to have a 10mm stretcher in my right ear, my lobe kind of extends when I’m wearing these earrings, but my bangs mostly cover that, so I don’t really mind.

Earrings (Six, €6.95)

You may notice that this is the first time that I’ve included such a personal post. I’ve been thinking of doing this more often, doing OOTD posts, latest buys posts, things like that. However, I don’t really want to define my blog to one single subject or vision. I wil continue posting DIYs, reviews, fashion and beauty stuff, obviously. But I would like to make it a bit more personal. I’ve got a bunch of things that I bought or won that I would love to review for you guys, and I’m working on a few DIYs myself that I will show you in the near future.

So what do you guys think? Would you approve of my blog going a bit more personal, or not? My blog is nothing without readers and subscribers, so I’d like to hear your opinion :)
