I’m in a good mood since I just got back from a shopping spree with my best friend, which always makes a girl happy. It’s not diamonds that are a girl’s best friend, it’s a sign with ‘sale’ and someone who’s willing to carry all of your shopping bags.
So while I was at H&M, I found their magazine, the Autumn 2013 edition. When I was leafing through the pages, I read a huge bunch of trends for this fall. I agreed with some, but disagreed with others. So I decided to make my own list. These are the things, patterns, trends and looks that -according to me- will define the next couple of months.
I’m sure most of you will remember this young lady from the Addams Family. I agree with H&M on this one, the Wednesday Addams look is spot on for this fall. Sleek, wetlook hair with either a middle or deep, sharp sideparting, dark grey or even black smokey or smudged eyes, raven-black nails and full brows.
Concerning clothes, we’re talking black tule, a Victorian twist, black lace, collars and schoolgirl dresses. Add some matte black, plum or bordeaux Doc Martens and you’re ready to haunt the runway!

- Army meets leather:
Think army green parkas, leather sleeves, army boots and a top bun or beanie, combined with a dark, matte lipstick and statement necklaces. This is something the H&M Trend Guide doesn’t really mention, but I noticed it in both the streets and the stores. I’m currently trying to convince my mum to buy (at least a part) of the H&M army green parka for me. One thing H&M does acknowledge as fall trend, is matte lips, which in my eyes fits perfectly with the rigorous, severe army look.
- Cosmic love:
If there’s anything they’re beating you to death with in stores right now, it’s cosmic fashion. Galaxy print leggings, galaxy bags, shirts, shoes, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, scarves, sweaters, just about everything. Just a year ago I there wasn’t a pair of galaxy leggings in town, so I had to order them from Poppy Lovers, all the way from Hong Kong, but now you can find them everywhere. I’ve always liked the cosmic theme, despite it being a little bit hipster. Throw in a couple of triangles and there’ll be a hipster around the corner with a Starbucks cup in his hand, trying to accuse you of Illuminati. Oh well, I’m still a galaxy fan.
- Smelling less of teen spirit and more of female empowerment:
This quote is literally from the H&M trends article, but I just had to use it. It expresses exactly my current view on fashion, and the way I (hopefully) look. Think nineties, Nirvana, Chuck Taylors and messy hair, but this time in a more mature way.
So, these are my four fashion trends/styles for upcoming fall. What do you think? Which one is your favourite? Or will you just continue on wearing a lot of summer outfits, but with thights? (I know I will!)
Another hype this summer are neon colours. As I love a bit of an extravagant, outstanding touch in my fashion behaviour, I’m one hundred per cent pro neon, especially yellow! (I’ve also got a slight glow stick addiction, fyi)
As usual, all pictures are from Pinterest or Tumblr.
Oh, and could someone pleeeeeeaaaaaase buy me that neon cambridge satchel? Thx!
I’m currently taking a break from my American Realism syllabus to munch on some rice waffles with white chocolate and to entertain you darlings with another photopost!
I figured since I’ve been sitting in front of my desk all day, I could use some bright colours and patterns to cheer me up. And won’t you look at that, bright colours and patterns are totes amazing this summer! I’m obviously talking about the tribal trend. If you don’t know what I mean, shame on you, and quick, check out the pictures below:
I should probably stop eating rice waffles right now, I’m trying to diet … Oh look is that yet another rice waffle between my lips? Oops.)
As usual, all pictures were found on Tumblr and Pinterest.
Aaaaaaaand one more rice waffle before I go back to my American Realism.
I was on Tumblr, searching for some cool nail art diys, and I found soooooo many stunning photos with nail arts ranging from ‘even-your-neighbour’s-toddler-can-do-this’ to ‘don’t-even-think-about-trying-you’ll-kill-us-all’. As my diy skills are actually quite similar to that neighbour’s toddler, I won’t even make an attempt. But I will show you the gorgeous discoveries I made!

I don’t really like nails that are waaay too long. If I can’t easily pick up my keys, it’s a no-go for me. And I’m also not a fan of all those accessories women stick to their nails. Flowers, fruits, plastic little toys? Doesn’t really look comfortable to me.
So which ones are your favourites? Some of them seem really easy to do, so easy that I might even try them out when I have the time. I’m also planning on buying a matte top coat, but so far all the ones I tried made the base colour fade. If anyone knows a good matte top coat, let me know!
All fellow shoe addicts: unite! I bring you a new photopost with the most amazing, killing, gorgeous heels ever. I am quite a shoe lover myself, because let’s face it, your shoes can make or break your entire outfit. Alright, enough with the rambling, bring in the heels! (All pictures are from Tumblr, a big part of them from this particular blog)
Obviously, these are my personal favourites, perhaps you don’t like them at all. But if you do, which ones do you love?
I found this gorgeous collection of make-up based on fruits that I thought I might share. These look amazing!
Aren’t they great? I found them on 9gag (hence the watermark in the bottom. They were made by Cristina Otero.
If it were completely up to me, I’d probably only make photoposts on this blog, but that wouldn’t be interesting to read, plus I have a Tumblr for that. But a photopost once in a while is ok! Today I chose for a photopost with quotes, because, well, I have an entire map on my Facebook account with these photos and I absolutely adore them. So take a break, get yourself some tea, sit down and reflect on your life. Enjoy!
