DIY: Three nail art designs!

If you scroll further down, you can see my previous post with gorgeous nail designs I found upon browsing Tumblr. Between the nail art pictures, I also stumbled upon a few nail art tutorials, which I’d like to share with you guys!

1. Gold leaf triangle nails: Obviously you can buy expensive gold foil, but I think this will also work out just fine with aluminium foil. Paint your nails in your preferred colour, cut out pieces of foil, put a little bit of glue on them and stick them to your nails. You can easily file the ends.

2. Ethnic/tribal nail art: Basically, you start with taking a ziplock bag, and painting a big rectangle on it with white nail polish. If you want to, apply a second coat as well. Wait for it to dry completely, then peel it off and cut out your decals as shown in step four. Apply a base coat on your nails in your preferred colour. When this nail polish is still slightly wet, a bit sticky, apply the decals to your nail. Cut off as close to your cuticles as possible, and apply a top coat.

3. Galaxy nails: Start off with applying a black coat, even two if necessary. With a make up sponge, apply shimmery silver polish in the middle. Allow for it to dry. Again using a sponge, apply bits of hot pink and dark blue to your galaxy. Finish off with a sheer polish with glitter to get a three dimensional starry effect. This tutorial might remind you of one of my previous posts, Nail art: Galaxy nails.

Photopost: Nail art

I was on Tumblr, searching for some cool nail art diys, and I found soooooo many stunning photos with nail arts ranging from ‘even-your-neighbour’s-toddler-can-do-this’ to ‘don’t-even-think-about-trying-you’ll-kill-us-all’. As my diy skills are actually quite similar to that neighbour’s toddler, I won’t even make an attempt. But I will show you the gorgeous discoveries I made!

(fake nails by Elegant Touch, I will be reviewing these soon!)

I don’t really like nails that are waaay too long. If I can’t easily pick up my keys, it’s a no-go for me. And I’m also not a fan of all those accessories women stick to their nails. Flowers, fruits, plastic little toys? Doesn’t really look comfortable to me.
So which ones are your favourites? Some of them seem really easy to do, so easy that I might even try them out when I have the time. I’m also planning on buying a matte top coat, but so far all the ones I tried made the base colour fade. If anyone knows a good matte top coat, let me know!

How to: Perfect sock bun

If you’ve got long hair, like I do, you’ve probably tried to do it in a bun before. They are a quick and easy way to keep your hair out of your face. However, even with very long hair, your bun will still seem kind of small, compared to the big puffy buns you often see on runways.

But no worries, because you can get one of those big buns in no time as well! And all you need is an old sock you don’t need anymore. An old what? Yes, a sock. Watch and learn ladies.

What to do with… strawberries! (besides eating them)

The weather is getting warmer, and what does that mean? Strawberry season! (And a lot of other things as well obviously, but those don’t matter for this post). Yes, juicy, thick, bright red strawberries. I wouldn’t know a better way to describe their taste than ‘summerish‘. Love it!
So that’s why I’m bringing you this beauty post today, because strawberries have a lot of other great qualities other than their great taste.

1.  Whiten your teeth: Strawberries are a great way to naturally whiten your teeth. Mix a bit of baking soda with a strawberry and brush your teeth with the mixture. Do this only once a week (the baking soda can damage your teeth if used too often) and you’ll notice results soon! If you would like to do this more often, brush your teeth with a strawberry daily and add the baking soda once a week. I’m currently trying this out myself, and I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated with my personal results.

2. Face mask: Mix a few (2 or 3) strawberries with a bit of plain yoghurt (for oily skin) or cream (for normal or sensitive skin) and add a spoon of honey. Apply this mixture to your face, but leave the sensitive skin around the eyes open. You might be tempted to eat the mixture, but give it a try on your skin! The mask will leave your face glowing and refreshed.

3. No more puffy eyes: Just like cucumber slices, strawberry slices reduce the swelling beneath your eyes. Take a little 10-minute-break with two slices on your eyes and moisturize afterwards with a light eye cream.

4. Quickest facial scrub everrrrrr: One of the great ingredients in strawberries is alpha-hydroxy acid, which helps you get rid of dead skin cells. All you need to do is cut a big strawberry in half, rub it all over your face and let it sit there for  few minutes before rinsing. Instant smoother, softer skin!

5. Foot scrub: Now summer is approaching, your lovely feet will probably spend more time in the sunlight as well. To make them summer proof, you can try this little body scrub recipe: mix 8 strawberries with two tablespoons of olive oil and a teaspoon of sea salt. Massage this mixture onto your feet, rinse and apply a foot lotion.

DIY: Louboutin nails

With all the shoe posts on my blog lately (DIY Neon shoes, Photopost: Stunning heels), a shoe inspired nail art design obviously had to be included.
This post will show you how to achieve the luxurious Louboutin look… on your nails!

Adele introduced this fierce manicure look to the big crowd by wearing it to the Grammy’s.  The underside of her nails were a deep red, like the famous Louboutin sole, while the upper side of the nails were a glittery, silvery blue.

This look is actually very easy to achieve. I recommend using fake nails though, otherwise your red polish will be all over your skin, and you will probably not get a nice, smooth finish.
Simply take your fake nails, and paint half of the underside in a dark of bright red, whichever you prefer. For the upper side of the fake nails, you can actually choose any colour you like, though I would recommend using dark, simple and cold colours, such as black, grey, silver or dark blue,  to make sure the red bottom catches the attention. Simple apply the fake nails as usual, and you’re ready to go!

Here’s a video, so you can have a better view of how it’s done (video by PicturesqueMakeup):

Review: Little Diva Bodylotion by LD

A while ago, I got a mail asking if I wanted to try the Little Diva bodylotion. Obviously, I was very excited to try this, so I hit reply and told them I was looking forward to it. I received a package with the bodylotion, and here’s a little review about the product!

For the ones among you who don’t know Little Diva, it’s a Dutch bed/bath/home textiles, cosmetics, tableware and stationary brand that is characterized by four themes: leopard, pink, jeans and gold. Sounds good, right? Little Diva stands for everything that runs through a young woman’s mind. Being loved, being sexy, glamorous, cute, naughty, but most of all: it allows women to be themselves and let them Dare to dream.

So, as I said before, I got to test the Little Diva Bodylotion. It comes in this glamorous, golden tube, with baby pink printed letters and a cute little chain with a retro heart and a bow.  It looks really great in your bathroom!

Then, off to the content of the tube. The bodylotion has a very sweet smell, not candy-ish, but very flowery with a hint of fresh, green apple.  The texture is, well, the same as most bodylotions you’re familiar with. Creamy, but not running. The most remarkable feature of this bodylotion is obviously its smell. It moisturizes and leaves your skin feeling soft, just like most bodylotions are made for. My skin is softer after use, but not significantly softer than it would have been with other lotions I have. Nevertheless, I really love it, because of its smell. Even hours after applying it, I can still notice a slight smell. Even other people noticed how nice and sweet I smelt (or smelled, depends if you prefer British or American spelling).

Anyway, if you’re interested in this bodylotion or in any other Little Diva product, be sure to check out their website. The items are available at Douglas, V&D and many other Dutch stores. For my Belgian readers, you can purchase Little Diva stuff at Marie Marie (Antwerp) or Vanderhaegen (Waregem). Unfortunately, Little Diva is not purchasable on line, but I made this post anyway because I’m from Belgium and I loved this too much not to share it with you guys!

Prices of items shown above: Little Diva Bodylotion (€7.95), Little Diva Teapot (€34.95), Little Diva Handsoap (€8.95)

Photopost: Fruit faces!

I found this gorgeous collection of make-up based on fruits that I thought I might share. These look amazing!

Aren’t they great? I found them on 9gag (hence the watermark in the bottom. They were made by Cristina Otero.
